address — Parcel Address

Description: Parcel Physical Street Address - This is the address of the parcel itself. Not every parcel has a street address, especially in agricultural areas and other large parcels. Also called the "situs address" or "site address".

Use it for: The parcel's own street address (situs/site address) - where the property is physically located. Not every parcel has one (e.g. large agricultural or vacant parcels).

Do not use it for: The owner's mailing address - that is mailadd, which is frequently a different location (such as an absentee owner). Use the situs address fields for where the property is.

mailadd — Mailing Address

Description: Parcel Mailing Address - This is the address where the tax and other assessor's communications are sent. It is often thought of as the owner's mailing address. It is often the same address as the parcel physical street address, but very commonly it is a different address than the parcel address itself.

Use it for: The owner's mailing address, where the county sends tax bills and assessor correspondence. Often differs from the parcel's own location.

Do not use it for: The location of the parcel itself - for that use address (the situs/site address). A mailing address that differs from the parcel address can indicate an absentee or non-occupant owner.
